http://boinc.ucd.ie/fmah/team_display.php?teamid=2060

I was looking (in vain I may add) to see if my team, Team Canada, a BOINC-wide team, was listed yet and found the above.

A load of tripe in the description, location given as Canada in one place and Bhutan in another plus the website is in Poland...go figure.

The team and that member are both suspect.

There are a lot of single user teams with spam links. The following examples are from the 100 users returned by this search:

I then started working backwards from the last page of teams sorted by total credit and found the following spammers by going back just 2 pages:

Most of the links are to .pl (Polish) websites and none of the "users" have an attached computer (i.e. they must have signed up using the Create an account form).

There are currently 2,156 teams on the project but only 435 of them have credit > 0.

I'd advise running a check of the contents of the team.url and team.description fields for the 1,721 teams with no credit. In the unlikely event that I get a spare few hours

Well done & there are probably 100's more like that on this and many other projects.

I find it a bit hard to swallow when I can't persuade anyone to turn on BOINC-Wide Team fetch in this project's BOINC settings so those genuine teams that have been around for years can be included in the list.

We may have to wait for an answer on this one as the one person dealing with issues here is finishing his PhD according to THIS post.

I was reading a while back that this project was supposed to close down the Malaria crunching and move on to something else post July, I wonder if the delay is part of the problems in finding people that can actually do things.

Really? That's interesting. I guess it's a case of wait and see.

Yeah that's why I crunch here, to help them finish up the Malaria stuff so they could move on.

Earlier this year I saw this post: "We plan to launch FightTB@Home in about a years time and we will be taking all of this feedback on board then. This project has allowed us to see what changes are required and we will be working to have a better system in place.
Thanks,
Kevin"

So I thought I would drop in and help them finish up, but things don't seem to be ending. It now turns out the post may have been made a few years ago, not this year! If that is true and they really have clue as to the direction they are going I may just move back to the Malariacontrol.net project full time. I am not into just keeping going for the sake of providing units!!

FightTB@Home was first mentioned in Kevin's post on 12 Feb 2013. I always read "about a year" as a very open ended approximation, but there's still nearly 4 months to go before the year is up.

As far as FightMalaria@Home is concerned, in last month's update Ant told us that 59.2% of the planned docking experiments had been completed.

Mhm, spamming is an huge problem from web-pages all over the world. The most Spam-Hosts are listed in China, every das more of them. Thats really simple, you need only CMD and it runs, with wrong mail´s...

The problem is, who to test the humanity?

ReCapcha works, but some good programmers can write an application and ReCapcha isn´t a problem.
The best way is an recistered account. The humanity will tested with a lot of little tests, questions and codes, but that costs time and money. UC Berkeley has enough money, I think, to make some tests.

The best way is a chip, with the DNA of the person, thats take some time, but in a few years (5-10 years) is that normal. Spams haven´t achange... ;)
