I have an old single core/hyper-threaded computer that I recently started FMAH on (the OS is XP Pro SP2 and the GPU is an on-board Intel "Extreme Graphics 2"

When both "cpus" are running vina 3.0 my graphic response gets very slow, making the box almost useless. Did I miss something in the project description and this should only be run on a compatible GPU, like Milky Way@Home?

Another thing. When I "snooze" from the SysTray icon, the icon changes to the inactive state, and in BOINC Manager, the tasks all show as suspended, but if vina was active, then vina continues using CPU as reported in Task Manager

If I pause the project in the BOINC Manager, vina does disappear in Task Manager

If this is just the way that vina runs, I'm afraid I'll have to leave the project

TIA for any insights

Hi keputnam,
I would recommend reducing the number of cores that vina can use to 50% in the "computing preferences" menu. This should leave some room for other processes. Reducing the max CPU time a little bit should help too.

As for the other issue, I don't think that is a problem with our app. It might be a boinc issue but I'm not certain.Sorry I can't be of more help on this one.
Regards,
Kevin

Thanks, Kevin

I've already done the max cores thing and it does make some difference

As far as not snoozing, Test4Theory does something similar, and I'm waiting for a new client before trying them again

Checked back in, and the behavior hasn't changed at all

I don't want to run just one BOINC App at a time, so the BOINC general prefs don't do what I want

At least a couple of APPS (don't remember which ones) have a project specific max cores setting. Any thoughts on impplementing that?

At least ou have fixed hte snooze problem :-)
